服が透けるセキュリティ装置、実用テストへ
　以前にも紹介しましたが、実用化へ向けてメルボルン（オーストラリア）の空港でもテストが始まるそうです。

　が、やはり賛否両論のようで・・・

『Transport security authorities are trialling the new "X-ray backscatter" body scanner , which has been described by critics as a "virtual strip search".』
【英単語チェック】virtual：「事実上の」

　「ストリップ・サーチ」との批判も多いのだとか。

"It does see through clothing, but it's not a photographic image, it's a low-energy X-ray that reflects off the skin,"

　弱いエックス線で映し出された像は、もちろん写真のように鮮明なものではありません。でも・・・、気になりますよね。

　ということで、ソノ部分だけ何とか画像処理すれば・・・

"It will show the private parts of people, but what we've decided is that we're not going to blur those out, because it severely limits the detection capabilities. It is possible to see genitals and breasts while they're going through the machine, though."

　しかしそれをやると、肝心の異物探知能力が制限されてしまうため、本末転倒なのだとか。

　その代わり、いくつかの対策はなされているそうです。

　ソノ部分がぼかせない代わりに、顔をぼかしてチョークで書いたように表現することで匿名性を高めているのだとか。

　検査官はスキャニングレーンから離れた場所にいて、荷物のようにスキャン画像と搭乗者を同時に見ることはできなくなっており、さらに、検査官がOKと判定した時点でデータは直ちに消去されるとのこと。

　これならワタシ的にはOKですが、どうやったって女性には受け入れ難いものかもしれませんね。

　最近では、グーグルマップのストリートビューが同様の議論を呼んでいますが、利便性とプライバシーのどちらを取るかは悩ましい問題です。

　これでハイジャックが無くなるのなら、導入すべきだと思いますが・・・。
